Laryea Kingston Named New Black Starlets Coach

Laryea Kingston has been named as the new head coach of the Black Starlets, as reported by MyJoyOnline.

Kingston, who previously worked as an assistant coach under Karim Zito, will now take on the role of head coach.

He recently led the team in friendly matches as they prepare for the upcoming WAFU B tournament. Assisting Kingston will be former Hearts captain Jacob Nettey and Nana Agyemang.

Kingston is widely recognized as a dedicated and hard-working player among his peers in the professional football world.

His determined style of play has led to some challenges, notably during the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations while representing the Ghanaian national team.

Kingston was sent off during Ghana’s 1-0 victory over Senegal due to an altercation with Habib Beye, resulting in both players receiving four-match suspensions.

This suspension caused Kingston to miss out on the opportunity to compete in the 2006 World Cup with the Ghana squad.

However, Kingston made a comeback in February 2007, scoring in Ghana’s 4-1 win over Nigeria in London.

Despite his return to form, Kingston was not selected for the 2010 World Cup squad. It is worth noting that Kingston’s older brother, Richard Kingson, is also a professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper in all of Ghana’s matches during the 2006 World Cup and was the first-choice goalkeeper in the 2010 tournament.
