Joana Gyan Cudjoe, wife of rapper Keche Andrew, has been disqualified from running in the December 7 elections on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket for the Amenfi Central Constituency. This decision comes after an unresolved court case challenging her candidacy.
The case, filed by Gyedu Frimpong and four others, has resulted in an interlocutory injunction issued by the High Court in Sekondi, restraining Joana Gyan Cudjoe from presenting herself as the NDC’s duly elected parliamentary candidate.
The Electoral Commission (EC) received the court order and is obligated to adhere to it until the matter is fully resolved.
The court’s directive explicitly prevents Joana from being recognized as the NDC candidate. It also restricts the NDC and the Electoral Commission from recognizing or granting her any privileges associated with the candidacy until the final verdict is reached.
As of now, the court order remains in place, and the EC has informed Joana of her disqualification, stating that the order has neither been stayed nor vacated.
The legal uncertainty surrounding her candidacy leaves her campaign in limbo, awaiting further legal proceedings.
Joana Gyan Cudjoe had been a prominent figure in the race for the Amenfi Central parliamentary seat, gaining support within the constituency.
