Joana Gyan, the wife of musician Keche Andrew, has reacted to the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s decision to disqualify her candidacy for Amenfi Central and to call for a rerun of the elections.
Following the party’s annulment of the elections, which was prompted by a petition from dissatisfied candidates who lost during the primaries, Joana expressed her intention to run for the position once more.
The petitioners raised several issues, claiming that Joana was ineligible to participate in the election due to allegations of forgery concerning her party and voter ID cards.
In light of these allegations, the NDC announced the annulment of the elections on September 5, aligning with the requests of those who sought an injunction against Joana Gyan’s candidacy.
In a statement released on social media, Joana Gyan expressed that holding the elections again presents a chance for unity and the development of a more robust Amenfi Central Constituency.
“Following the decision by the Functional Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to annul the parliamentary primaries conducted on the 13th of May 2023 in Amenfi Central, I am announcing my intention to run once again as the NDC parliamentary candidate for the upcoming primaries.
“This rerun presents us with a renewed opportunity to come together and build a stronger Amenfi Central. I remain deeply committed to our shared vision of progress, development, and empowerment for all.
“With your trust and support, I will continue to advocate for better education, infrastructure, healthcare, and economic opportunities that will uplift every corner of our constituency. However, this cannot be done alone. “We need the support of everyone’
