Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil has etched his name into Major League Soccer’s history books by becoming part of one of the most formidable attacking quartets the league has ever seen.

Joining Los Angeles Galaxy in February, Paintsil quickly became a key figure in a powerhouse lineup alongside ex-Barcelona star Riqui Puig, Gabriel Pec, and Dejan Joveljic. Together, they have led the club to MLS glory, setting a new standard for offensive production.

The quartet, affectionately dubbed the “Three Ps” (Pec, Puig, and Paintsil), with Joveljic completing the force, managed to rack up an incredible 124 goals and assists in both regular and postseason action.

This feat has broken a 16-year-old record previously held by the legendary LA Galaxy lineup of Welton, Cobi Jones, Mauricio Cienfuegos, and Martin Machon, who combined for 122 goals and assists back in 1998.

Paintsil, who contributed 14 goals and 11 assists, has become an instant fan favourite. His signature moment came in the MLS Cup final, where he scored the opening goal in LA Galaxy’s 2-1 victory over New York Red Bulls, clinching the club’s first title in a decade.

This victory brought a sense of redemption for the team, whose fans had long awaited a return to the top.

Reflecting on his career and the journey that led him to this moment, Paintsil expressed deep gratitude and satisfaction.

“I feel really blessed,” he told MLS Soccer, his voice filled with emotion. “It goes also with my song, so it’s really amazing and a good feeling now.”

The 27-year-old, who previously enjoyed a successful spell at KRC Genk in Belgium, is now a key figure in the new-look LA Galaxy. His performance has become a symbol of both personal and team achievement.

“What’s really special,” he added, “is that 10 years is a really big gap, but now we’ve succeeded and won the Cup. We’re not going to talk about the 10 years now. We start from this year, and it’s just amazing. We keep going.”
