Johnny Greaves Injured In Antigo Practice Crash

Johnny Greaves’ 2023 Championship Off-Road season got off to the worst possible start when he crashed during practice on Friday before the first round at Antigo Lions Roaring Raceway, breaking several bones.

He will miss the first few games of the season because of the injury, but he intends to play again later in the summer.

As Greaves made his way towards the final curve of the Pro 4 practice, his truck abruptly veered off course. Greaves was taken to a hospital in Green Bay, where he was awake and cheerful despite the injuries, even though the truck was sufficiently unharmed for a crew member to be able to drive it back to the paddock.

Later on in the evening, amid pre-weekend entertainment, there was a moment of quiet and a prayer for Greaves.

“Wanted to say thank you to everyone for all the support and prayers! I hope to be back on the track mid summer, in the meantime, @kgreaves34 will be racing my truck,” wrote Greaves on social media. “Good luck to everybody this weekend, stay safe and keep your wheels on the ground”.

Seven trucks, including the #22 and Johnny Greaves’s son C.J. Greaves, the current class and Crandon World Cup champion, were entered in Pro 4 at Antigo. Due to Kyle LeDuc’s cancer battle, Greaves’ absence means the top-tier truck division will begin the year without two of its top competitors.

Scottie Lawrence and Andrew Carlson will not play on Saturday as well because they both crashed during practice. With a victory at ERX, the senior Greaves placed third in the 2022 Pro 4 standings, behind his son and LeDuc.
