Former Ghanaian international Michael Essien, currently an Individual Player Coach at FC Nordsjaelland, has revealed that becoming a head coach isn’t on his mind at the moment.
In an interview with Joy Sports, Essien shared his thoughts on the pressures of the role, saying, “For now, I am not thinking about being a head coach; it is too stressful.
“I like to be behind the scenes, away from these media duties and cameras in my face. But you never know; maybe at some point.”
Essien also took the opportunity to praise his current club, Nordsjaelland, stating, “I’ve been to many places, top clubs and everything, but the Nordsjaelland organisation is second to none.”
Michael Essien officially retired from professional football in 2020. His last club as a player was Sabail FK, a team in the Azerbaijan Premier League, where he also took on a coaching role while playing.
After his contract with Sabail FK ended, Essien transitioned fully into coaching, starting his new career path at Danish club FC Nordsjaelland as an Individual Player Coach.
