Ghanaian winger for LA Galaxy Joseph Painstil is known for his impressive skills on the field. However, what many may not know is that Painstil also has a deep passion for music.

In a recent exclusive interview with Sport, he opened up about how he balances his dual passions while navigating the demanding world of professional football.

“I only focus on my free days, like now that we are on vacation,” Painstil explains when discussing his approach to managing both his career and his music.

“When the season starts, I have to really focus on just football because when the season starts, I don’t focus on music. I will be distracted. I will have two ways of dealing with things, and that is not good for an athlete.”

This reveals the disciplined mindset Painstil adopts to ensure he excels in both areas, emphasizing the importance of focus in his professional life.

Despite the pressures of a football career, Painstil’s music journey has become a source of joy and pride for him. He shared an unforgettable moment during a match in the United States when his music was played in the stadium.

“I felt really happy, especially when we had the warm-up, they also played it,” he says. “It’s a good feeling when they appreciate your song in the United States, which is also a music country.”

To hear his own song played while warming up, surrounded by thousands of fans, was a surreal experience for the talented athlete.

Painstil continued, “So me finding my music being played in the stands and speakers around the stadium is such a great feeling. After we won the league, they played it, and I was singing along to it.

“It makes me feel good knowing that these people have really accepted me.”

The acknowledgment of his music from fans, especially in a country as steeped in musical tradition as the United States, serves as a powerful reminder of how far Painstil’s talents reach—both on and off the field.
