Ghanaian rapper Medikal has revisited the controversy surrounding his 2021 arrest, shedding light on what he describes as an unjust ordeal.
Speaking candidly in an interview on Hitz FM on December 16, 2024, the artist expressed frustration over the public misunderstanding of the incident, which stemmed from a photograph he shared on social media featuring a licensed firearm.
“I didn’t accuse anyone, I never stole from anyone, and I wasn’t brandishing anything in public. I was at home, within my own walls,” Medikal clarified during the interview.

He dismissed claims that he had flaunted the weapon recklessly, explaining that the firearm in question had been legally licensed and registered with the police.
“Brandishing isn’t when you are in your house and you take pictures of something that has been licensed and registered by the police themselves,” he asserted, defending his actions against allegations of misconduct.
The rapper recounted the aftermath of the photo, which led to his arrest and subsequent detainment—a situation he describes as deeply distressing.
“I was put in jail. It was inhumane. It wasn’t right,” he remarked, his voice tinged with emotion.
