Ghanaian rapper Medikal has taken to social media to reflect on what he describes as unjust treatment at the hands of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during their time in power.
Sharing his experience via his X page, Medikal alleged that he was arrested and detained at Ankaful Maximum Security Prison without valid justification, calling it an act of political oppression.
“NPP arrested me for no tangible reason, NPP put me in cells and locked me up in jail (Ankaful Maximum Security Prison) all in the name of power,” the rapper posted.

He went on to claim that attempts by his legal team to challenge his detention were met with resistance. “My lawyers tried to communicate with superiors, and all they got in response was, ‘It’s an order from above,’” he added.
Medikal’s comments come in the wake of the NPP’s defeat in the December 7, 2024, general elections, where John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) secured a resounding victory.
His post has sparked widespread conversation on social media, with many questioning the use of political power to allegedly target critics or individuals perceived as dissenters.
Reflecting on the elections, he expressed a sense of vindication, though he refrained from making direct political endorsements.
