Abdul Fatawu Issahaku marked his debut for Leicester City in the Premier League with a notable performance, as his team played to a draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Monday evening.

After finalizing a permanent transfer to the club and contributing to their promotion back to the Premier League following last season’s relegation, the Ghanaian talent described his first match in the top flight as a memorable occasion.

Issahaku participated for the full 90 minutes and provided a crucial cross that Jamie Vardy converted into an equalizer in the 57th minute, expressing satisfaction with his debut outing.

“This day was a special day. My debut in the Premier League, was a great feeling and it’s great to take a point and I’m so happy and it was a dream come through for me and we keep going.”

“There’s difference in the Premier League because there’s more intensity, there’s more running, you have to keep on coping up with the (opposition) team and yeah there are differences but we keep going.”

During Lescester’s Championship campaign last season, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku earned the prestigious goal of the season award for the month of May, as his team secured promotion to the 2024/2025 EPL.

The Ghanaian winger who was included in Otto Addo’s 26-man squad that faced Mali and the Central African Republic (CAR) in their World Cup qualifier scored a remarkable curler against Southampton which contributed to their return to the Premier League.

During his loan spell in England, Issahaku showcased his skills by scoring a hat-trick against another EPL team, solidifying his impressive performance.

This success gave Leicester City the option to activate his buy clause from Sporting Lisbon.

Additionally, his second goal of the treble earned him the Goal of the Month accolade.

Not only has Issahaku excelled on the field, but he was also recognized as the club’s best young player.

Throughout his loan period, he scored six goals and provided 13 assists, showcasing his versatility and impact.
