IMANI Reacts To Yvonne Nelson’s Call For Joint Demo

IMANI Ghana boss, Franklin Cudjoe has reacted to Yvonne Nelson’s request for a new dumsor demonstration similar to the massive one that occurred in 2015.

Cudjoe took to his official Facebook page to inform the actress that his organization would arrange the vigil at the appropriate time.

He emphasized that IMANI has been outspoken in its condemnation of the situation and is currently in the process of determining its potential protest partners. Here’s what he posted:

We have heard the call by the redoubtable Ms.Yvonne Nelson for round two of #dumsormuststop.

Fair call even as we (IMANI) have maintained our criticism of government’s bad decisions for what often seem like a rudderless leadership, the latest dumsor episodes being the zenith.

So as you can see ( T-shirts), we are preparing and we will make the call and choose how we demonstrate and who we want to partner at the right time.

Meanwhile, others can also organise their own unique protests in churches, mosques, bars, schools and homes .#DUMSORMUSTSTOP Kofi Bentil Selorm Branttie Bright Simons

Then again IMANI Vice President Bright Simons expressed his disappointment that Yvonne Nelson, who he accused of being silent amidst IMANI’s ongoing criticism of energy sector issues, suddenly desires to organize a demonstration.

He shared:

We’ve been pursuing various matters with ECG, CWM, the gas value chain (e.g. Genser), power tariffs, and IPP debt buildup, but I’ve never seen Nelson amplify this work, not even a retweet. Why is that?

Their statements come after Yvonne Nelson reached out to the organization seeking their support for a new protest against the ongoing power outages, commonly known as dumsor.

The renowned actress and filmmaker made a name for herself in the political arena when she successfully organized a massive demonstration in 2015 during the tenure of John Dramani Mahama.

Now, she is planning to stage another protest and hopes to collaborate with IMANI Ghana to recreate the impact they had years ago.

In a tweet, Yvonne Nelson revealed that IMANI Ghana had supported her previous dumsor protest and she desires the same level of support against the current government.

According to her, the present administration has failed to adequately address their concerns and, even worse, is taking the Ghanaian people for granted by neglecting the dumsor situation.
