Kwame A Plus, the outspoken musician-turned-politician, has made it clear that his recent election to Parliament is not about advancing the interests of the entertainment industry.
In a candid statement, A Plus addressed misconceptions surrounding his political ambitions, emphasizing that his primary focus is serving the people of Gomoa Central, the constituency that entrusted him with their votes.
“I don’t want anyone to think that Kwame A Plus is going to Parliament to fight for the interest of the entertainment industry,” he explained.

“That is not my business there. My interest is to work and bring satisfaction to the people of Gomoa Central who voted massively for me because of the confidence they have in me.”
Despite his prominence in the creative sector, A Plus was quick to clarify that his election was not a result of support from industry groups like the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) or the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG).
“No creative industry person or group put me in Parliament,” he affirmed. “When I was contesting, there wasn’t any word of support from MUSIGA, or FIPAG, or any creative group to rally support for me. It was just a few of my friends in the industry who solidly stood by me throughout.”
A Plus’s journey into politics has been marked by his unorthodox approach, often criticizing both major political parties.
He made a name for himself as a vocal commentator on social issues, using his platform to call out corruption and champion the rights of ordinary citizens. This persona resonated with the people of Gomoa Central, who saw him as a representative who would speak truth to power.

Now that he has been elected to Parliament, A Plus is determined to prioritize his constituents’ needs above all else. “So nobody should tell me I’m representing the creative industry, I’m going to Parliament to serve the interest of the people of Gomoa Central,” he concluded.
