Independent MP-elect for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, better known as A Plus, has not held back his emotions following the defeat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana’s 2024 general elections.
The outspoken political commentator and musician turned politician has expressed his delight at what he describes as a “humiliation” for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and a reflection of the leadership failures that, in his opinion, have tarnished the NPP’s legacy.
In a candid statement, A Plus remarked, “The general outcome of the election is a great one. Akufo-Addo has been humiliated, and I am so excited about it.”

His excitement is rooted in what he views as a reckoning for a government that, according to him, failed to live up to its promises and undermined the NPP’s credibility.
Known for his no-holds-barred critique of political affairs, A Plus drew comparisons between Akufo-Addo and other Ghanaian leaders, lamenting what he perceives as a lost opportunity for the outgoing president to solidify a legacy of nation-building.
“If Akufo-Addo had not become the president of Ghana, we would go about telling people that there was one guy who was coming to change Ghana.
But it is a shame and unfortunate that he doesn’t have time like John Mahama, J.A. Kufuor, and Rawlings, who became fathers of the nation,” A Plus stated.
