Kwame Asare Obeng, widely known as A Plus, has laid out his plans as the Independent Member of Parliament-elect for Gomoa Central, vowing to address the pressing concerns of his constituents.
A Plus’s unexpected political victory has been attributed to a targeted campaign that resonated deeply with the needs of the people.
In a recent interview with UTV, A Plus emphasized his commitment to fulfilling the promises that secured him victory. Highlighting the poor infrastructure in Gomoa Central, he stated,
“When we started the campaign, I told my people what I was going to do, but Afenyo-Markin and his people were trying to dispute it. We also know there are no good roads in Gomoa Central; the only good road there is full of potholes.”
A Plus’s victory came after an intense campaign focused on issues that directly affect the daily lives of his constituents. He conducted a needs assessment to understand their primary concerns, discovering that the lack of good roads and toilet facilities were among the most pressing.

“We got to know that they lacked toilet facilities. So that is what we used as our campaign message, and it has worked,” he explained.
Beyond infrastructure, A Plus is also tackling long-standing land disputes in the constituency. During the same interview, he reiterated his promise to reclaim lands that had been seized from residents over the years, pledging immediate action to return them to their rightful owners.
“I will reclaim all lands seized from some members of my constituents,” he declared, signaling a hands-on approach to governance.
A Plus’s campaign strategy—rooted in addressing real issues—helped him overcome the influence of traditional party structures, marking a shift in Gomoa Central’s political landscape.
His bold messaging contrasted with his opponents, particularly from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who struggled to connect with the people’s frustrations.
