MC Portfolio, a staunch supporter of Ghanaian dancehall artist Stonebwoy, has addressed the controversy surrounding his acceptance of GH₵5,000 from Shatta Wale during a recent media tour in Kumasi.

Speaking on Hitz FM, Portfolio refuted claims that the gesture undermined his loyalty to Stonebwoy, clarifying that the money was given unexpectedly and not solicited.

“I have never requested a dime from him, and Shatta Wale knows this,” Portfolio explained. “If he had given me money before and I’m speaking for Stonebwoy, he would have come out to say it. But that never happened.”

Recalling the moment, he said Shatta Wale expressed surprise at not having appreciated him earlier for his contributions, which led to the unexpected cash gift.

“He ambushed me with that amount,” Portfolio noted, adding that he requested Shatta Wale publicly explain the purpose of the gesture before accepting it to avoid any misconceptions.

Despite his clarification, Portfolio has faced intense criticism, particularly from BHIM Nation fans and industry figures like DJ Slim.

During his show Street Is Watching, DJ Slim accused Portfolio of hypocrisy, questioning his loyalty and integrity.

Slim recounted a prior instance where Portfolio openly admitted to receiving financial support from another industry player, Sammy Flex.

“When he met Shatta, you could see his mixed feelings; he couldn’t articulate himself properly,” Slim argued, suggesting Portfolio’s actions left room for doubt.
