For Stonebwoy, the focus wasn’t on comparisons but on highlighting the power of dancehall music and its economic significance.
Reflecting on his self-sponsored BHIM concert in December 2023, he explained, “I was pointing to the fact that… Dancehall filled the stadium and gave a lot of people jobs. So the economic factor cannot be denied.”
The conversation began when Stonebwoy responded to claims made by artist manager Gomski, who suggested that dancehall was problematic in Ghanaian music.
Stonebwoy countered with the undeniable impact of his concert, which not only filled the stadium but did so without external sponsorship.
He described the feat as a clear testament to the genre’s strength and his personal dedication, saying, “I stand on that fact and I repeat it again and again; it’s obvious, it’s clear. I was very specific. When I speak, I try to find the right words.”
For Stonebwoy, this achievement was not about diminishing the efforts of others but about celebrating the potential of dancehall music to thrive independently.
