During the latest edition of UTV’s United Showbiz, media personality Nana Romeo shared a frustrating experience during Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s meeting with members of the Creative Arts Industry on October 16, 2024.
According to him, despite being eager to ask a question, he was passed over, leaving him feeling ignored and unfairly treated.

“When it was time for questions, I raised my hand first,” Nana Romeo recounted. “KOKA saw me and asked me to wait, but then he passed the microphone to someone behind me without giving me a chance to speak.”
Nana Romeo did not mince words when he described the situation. He claimed that those in charge of picking who could speak were showing clear favouritism.
“It felt like they were handpicking people,” he said, implying that there might have been an intentional effort to silence certain voices.
This alleged bias raises questions about transparency in such high-profile meetings, especially when key figures in the creative arts community hope to engage with leaders like Dr Bawumia.
The vice president’s engagement with the Creative Arts Industry was a highly anticipated event, where members, made up of actors, musicians and other stakeholders voiced their concerns and sought clarity on issues affecting their sector.

“I was there to contribute just like everyone else, and being prevented from asking my question made me feel invisible,” he added.
