Entertainment journalist and critic MC Portfolio opened up about his strained relationship with Shatta Wale and the series of events that led to their fallout In an interview with Akoto Mansa on the Asetena Pa show monitored by Ghanastreetjournal.
While reflecting on his professional identity, he made it clear that he always prioritized his integrity over personal affiliations.
“I’m an entertainment journalist first and foremost,” he said, asserting that his work as a journalist would never be compromised by any personal relationships.
MC Portfolio went on to describe the cordial but fragile nature of his relationship with Shatta Wale, emphasizing that he never allowed himself to be controlled by Wale’s influence or the expectations of his fanbase.

Despite maintaining a cordial relationship, MC Portfolio revealed that his decision to back rival artist Stonebwoy for the 2023 Ghana Music Awards’ Artiste of the Year award was the turning point.
This move, which aimed to support what he believed was a deserving candidate, did not sit well with Shatta Wale’s fans.
“When I started advocating for Stonebwoy, it didn’t sit well with Wale’s supporters,” he explained. “But to be clear, I wasn’t personally offended by the situation.
“I was with Andy Dosty and DJ Slim at the time, and it was more about standing up for what I believed was right for the industry.”
