Isaiah Kwadwo Ampong, professionally known as Great Ampong, has clarified the intent behind his song Emmoa Asem Nkoaaa, denying allegations that it insults former President John Dramani Mahama or members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In an interview with Amansan Krakye on Property FM, Ampong emphasized that the song’s lyrics are rooted in the rich expressions of the Akan language rather than in disrespect or insult.

“The message behind my song ‘Emmoa Asem Nkoaaa’ is not an insult to the former president or NDC members, but it’s part of our Akan language,” Ampong explained to Amansan Krakye.
He elaborated on the cultural context of his lyrics, noting that they address the frequent references to food and animals in Mahama’s speeches.
“I’m trying to say that anything that the former president says is about food and animals, just like he recently said in Accra that when we want Kenkey to eat, you say digitalization,” Ampong said during an interview on Property FM.
He continued, “So you can see that his promises are all about food and meat, and so that’s why I did that song that the world is moving forward in high tech, not discotec.”

Ampong’s song has sparked considerable debate among political commentators and the public.
While some listeners interpreted the lyrics as a direct criticism of Mahama, Ampong insists that he intended to highlight the importance of technological advancement over mere discussions of food and traditional sustenance.
