Seasoned journalist Kwesi Pratt has expressed shock over attempts to blame the newly elected government for Ghana’s ongoing power crisis, commonly referred to as dumsor.
Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana monitored by Ghanastreetjournal, he dismissed the notion that a government in office for less than two months could be held responsible for the country’s energy sector challenges.
“The state of the nation which you left had a power sector indebtedness of 2.5 billion. And the argument they put up is that when we came, the debt level was still 2.5 billion, and we are leaving at 2.5 billion—that’s your achievement?

“And then, surprisingly, today, the current government, which is less than two months in office, is being blamed for dumsor? Incredible! I can’t believe it!” Pratt exclaimed.
He also questioned the way economic progress is being presented to the public, pointing out that inflation remains high despite claims of improvement.
“It is time for all of us as Ghanaian people to put our shoulders to the wheel and try to find a way out of this crisis.
“We are boasting about an inflation rate of 23%? My goodness! Until recently, the inflation rate was hovering around 50%! We need to stop this grandstanding and these press conferences which mean absolutely nothing!” he stated.
