Afia Pokua, better known as Vim Lady, has boldly voiced her frustrations over Ghana’s ongoing energy crisis, which many have feared could return to the painful days of ‘dumsor’.
With her signature bluntness, Vim Lady dissected the current situation during a recent broadcast, calling out the shifting narratives from past and present governments.
Reflecting on the energy crisis of 2014-2015, she explained, “In 2014-2015, the reason ‘dumsor’ was a problem during the NDC’s tenure was because they said there were issues with our generation capacity.
When the NPP came into power and renegotiated, they stated that the problem was not with generation capacity, but with financial capabilities.

So why are we going back to ‘dumsor’ now? Between the NDC and NPP, someone is lying.” Her words were not just a critique but a call for clarity on why Ghana is facing a similar crisis again.
The energy crisis, which has caused widespread hardship for Ghanaians, has always been a topic of intense debate.
The NDC, during their time in office, blamed power shortages on generation deficits, while the NPP later argued that the financial mismanagement of agreements was to blame.
The back-and-forth between the two parties has left many confused and frustrated, with little progress in solving the issue.
Vim Lady’s pointed questions challenged both sides, demanding a clear explanation from the authorities as to why the crisis is resurfacing.
She didn’t hold back in expressing her discontent, emphasizing the toll ‘dumsor’ has taken on everyday lives.
“We don’t like stupidity. ‘Dumsor’ is a painful experience, and if care is not taken, someone could go to jail for causing financial loss.
There is no reason for someone to sign a power purchasing agreement and still face this crisis,” she asserted, adding weight to her call for accountability.
