Pope Skinny has expressed his support for the newly launched Ghana Music Experience (GMX) App, an initiative that aims to improve the music industry and provide a platform for Ghanaian artists to reach global audiences.

The app was officially launched by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, marking a significant step in the government’s efforts to strengthen the country’s creative sector.

Reflecting on the potential of the GMX App, Pope Skinny acknowledged its role in supporting musicians. He emphasized the importance of initiatives like this one, highlighting that any initiative that can benefit artists, no matter how new, should be welcomed.

“It starts from somewhere, and as for me, if I see something that will be of help to us a bit, I feel appreciative of the initiative,” he shared on Property FM.

Pope Skinny’s words reflect a broader sentiment in the Ghanaian music community, where there is growing optimism about technological advancements and digital platforms. “If the system works perfectly and if that’s how it’s going to be, then it’ll be helpful to us all whether the app is new or not,” he added, signaling his belief that the GMX App could be a game-changer for the industry, especially if it delivers on its promise.

For many artists, the GMX App represents a crucial step in replicating the success of similar initiatives abroad, where digital platforms have played an essential role in helping musicians make money and build global audiences. “Once this is an initiative that is here to support musicians, like what’s happening abroad, for us to make money, I do appreciate it a lot,” Pope Skinny remarked, underscoring the significance of creating such tools within Ghana’s entertainment sector.

Launched by Dr. Bawumia, the GMX App is designed to enhance the visibility of Ghanaian musicians by providing them with an accessible platform to share their music, connect with fans, and ultimately increase their earnings. The initiative is part of a larger effort by the government to foster growth within the creative industry, especially as digital technologies continue to reshape how music is consumed globally.

Pope Skinny, who has always been vocal about issues affecting the music community, also noted that even though the app is new, its establishment should be seen as a positive step. “I think that the GMX App that was launched by Dr. Bawumia is good. Whether the initiative is new or not, I think that it’s a good start,” he concluded, offering his full support for the project.
