Rapper Pope Skinny has shared insights into his life and career after taking a break to seek better opportunities in the United States.
In an interview with Nana Romeo, the former host of Kasahare Levels on Adom FM, expressed his frustrations about the harsh realities faced by musicians in Ghana, particularly the struggle to create hit songs that can sustain their livelihoods.
“I’ve seen firsthand how tough it is for artists in Ghana. Many of us work hard to produce music, but the system often makes it difficult for us to thrive,” Pope Skinny lamented.
His decision to leave Ghana stemmed from this difficult environment, as he sought to explore new avenues that could lead to a more promising future.
In his interview, Pope Skinny revealed that he was not alone in his pursuit. “Many artists, including some big names, have made the same decision to go abroad after facing career stagnation,” he shared. T
Now living in the U.S., Pope Skinny has taken on the job of a truck driver, a role he admitted he would have found hard to accept back home.
“It’s a different world here. In Ghana, as a celebrity, you feel this pressure to maintain a certain image. But here, I’m just trying to make a living,” he explained.
