Headache For Arteta & Arsenal As Thomas Partey Picks Up Rib Injury, Set To Go For MRI Scan

Arsenal’s talisman, Thomas Partey, has picked up an injury, and this has become a huge blow to Arsenal in their quest for their first Premier League triumph since 2004.

After receiving a blow to the ribs during the opening 45 minutes of Friday night’s FA Cup loss to Manchester City, the Arsenal midfielder was forced off at halftime.

Partey’s absence in the second half surely had a significant impact on the tie, as the Gunners lost the game 1-0. Partey had been playing with the discomfort until eventually needing to be replaced at the break, according to Arteta, who spoke with reporters following the game.

Arteta gave reporters a glimpse of what is happening to his star man by saying;

He had some discomfort and it was getting worse and worse. He could not continue. No initial diagnosis. Tomorrow, or the day after it will have to be an MRI scan and we’ll see what he has.

Given how crucial Partey is to the squad, any injury would have a significant negative impact on Arsenal’s prospects of winning the title this year.

Prior to Tuesday’s transfer deadline, Arsenal was already looking to recruit a midfielder and had a deal for Moises Caicedo of Brighton rejected. Later, the 21-year-old released a statement begging Brighton to let him leave.
