Yul Edochie has openly disclosed the reason behind his absence at Junior Pope’s funeral, following numerous inquiries from social media regarding his absence at the solemn event.
Taking to Instagram on May 21, the versatile actor and filmmaker, explained that he chose to remain silent as a mark of respect for the departed soul, intending to address the matter only after the burial had taken place.
Additionally, Yul Edochie mentioned that he and the late actor were once close friends, but their friendship had soured due to their disagreement.
He posted;
“I didn’t want to say anything till after his burial. I know many asked why I wasn’t there. Why I haven’t said anything about it since. I took him like a brother & good friend. I was there for him when he needed me. But he stabbed me in the back, repeatedly. That’s LIFE! I’ll drop the full details soon so others can learn from it. Be careful what you wish people, it could come to you.”
Junior Pope, real name John Paul Obumneme Odonwodo, along with four others, tragically lost their lives on April 10 after their boat overturned in the Anam River during their return from a film shoot.
The funeral ceremony for Yul Edochie took place on Friday, May 17, at St. Peter’s Catholic Parish in Ukehe, Enugu State. Numerous Nigerian actors and celebrities gathered at the late actor’s burial service to bid their final farewell.
