Harry Kane has become England’s most capped player after surpassing the record previously held by Peter Shilton when he starred in the Euro 2024 round of 16 match against Slovakia.
Kane now has 79 appearances, breaking the previous record. Since his debut in 2015, the Bayern Munich forward has earned 94 caps for the Three Lions, scoring 64 goals and providing 19 assists.
Kane is also England’s all-time leading goal scorer, with 11 more goals than Wayne Rooney in second place.
In Euro 2024, Kane has scored once, finding the net in England’s 1-1 draw against Denmark in the group stage.
In the meantime, the England captain and Jude Bellingham joined forces to defeat a determined Slovakia 2-1 in extra time.
England found themselves trailing in the 25th minute after Ivan Schranz scored for Slovakia, putting them in a surprising lead and making it seem like England was on the verge of elimination from the tournament as injury time approached.
Nonetheless, Jude Bellingham delivered a moment of excellence by scoring a remarkable equalizer just before the final whistle, sending the last-16 match into extra time.
Captain Harry Kane then secured the lead for England early in the first half of extra time, and they managed to maintain it despite some tense moments.
