Ghana Premier League side, Accra Hearts of Oak, crushed out of the Round 32 stage of the 2022-2023 MTN FA Cup competition after a 1-0 loss to Dreams FC.

The rainbow side wasted two penalty attempts in the final minutes of the game. This was after Samuel Inkoom missed the retake penalty attempt after an initial saved kick was called back for an infringement.

The Head Coach of the side, Slavko Matic, says the loss was largely due to “Hard luck.”

The Serbian trainer said this in a post-game interview.

“We created a lot of chances, a lot of free kicks and crosses, and we deserved this penalty. But it was hard luck we didn’t score, and we lost the game today. We deserved this chance…but in the end we didn’t score. It’s hard luck, we continue” the coach said.

The coach also spoke about the fact that his first choice penalty taker, Salifu Ibrahim, was not available because he had been substituted earlier in the game.

Per the result of the game, Dreams FC progresses to the Round 16 stage of the competition.

Hearts of Oak won the FA Cup in the 2021-2022 season.

Hearts officially announced the appointment of the Serbian coach in October 2022.

Matic took over the role from Samuel Boadu who mutually parted ways with the club after a poor start to the 2022-2023 season.

The 46-year-old Matic holds a UEFA Pro Licence, and has vast experience having managed clubs in Europe and in Asia. He will be in charge of Hearts for the next two years.
