Ghana’s Wheelchair Tennis Team Attacked By Armed Robbers In Nigeria

According to a 3News report, Ghana’s wheelchair tennis team have been attacked and robbed by armed robbers while returning home from a tournament in Nigeria.

The theft reportedly occurred at Ogun Stage in Nigeria, where the attackers seized the team’s valuables and shattered the car’s windshield. Three squad members required medical attention at a hospital due to injuries they sustained.

The team was led by coach Philip Plange and featured the No. 1 seed Daniel Laryer, Razak Baba Abdul, Bernard Yawson, Bridget Nartey, Issah Zenabu, and Stacy Mensah Konadu.

The squad was on its way back to Ghana after competing in the 2023 ITF World Team Cup Africa Qualifiers in Abuja, Nigeria, from February 8 to February 12.
