Ghanaian Duo Salisu and Kamaldeen To Play In Championship Next Year After Southampton Suffered EPL Relegation

Southampton have been demoted from the Premier League, which means Ghanaian duo Mohammed Salisu and Kamaldeen will play in the English Championship the next season.

After losing to Fulham at home by a score of 2-0 on Saturday, the Saints knew their return to the premier league had been cut short

Carlos Vinicius and Aleksandr Mitrovic’s goals in the second half were enough for Fulham to defeat the Saints at Saint Mary’s.

Sulemana, who took part in the Saints’ loss to Fulham, joined them during the winter transfer window in an effort to keep them out of the bottom three. However, the 20-year-old attacker had only assisted once in 16 Premier League games.

Salisu, his compatriot, has been sidelined since March due to an injury and has missed most of the games following the international break. Atletico Madrid in Spain and Newcastle United in the English Premier League have both been mentioned as potential destinations for him.

Southampton completed a deal to sign centre-back Mohammed Salisu back in 2020 from Real Valladolid for £10.9m. Saints triggered a buyout clause in the 21-year-old’s contract and he agreed a four-year deal to move to St Mary’s.

Meanwhile, the battle for supremacy between Arsenal and Manchester City who are just a single point, will be intensified on Sunday as the Gunners welcome Brighton and Hove Albion to the Emirates Stadium while the Sky Blues travel to Goodison Park to play Everton.

Thomas Partey form

After missing out on starting for Arsenal’s previous two Premier League games, Thomas Partey has issued a statement to calm the nerves of his admirers and fans.

Recall that the Italian midfielder Jorginho took over for the Ghanaian deputy captain, who has started 26 league games for the Gunners this season. Partey admitted to Standard Sports that he was unconcerned about losing his spot in the starting XI.

“I am really happy for him (Jorginho) because, for a couple of weeks, he was the best at training and then at the end, you see that in the game.”

Partey went on to praise his teammate’s recent performances and highlighted the importance of competition in the squad.

“I am really happy for him and also happy that every player is ready to step in, so nobody is able to sleep. I think it is good and I hope everyone in that position will be ready to step in when they have the chance. The purpose of the club is to create competition and that helps the club to grow more, and also pushes us to be able to give our best in the game.”

Meanwhile. the gunners are in danger of seeing the Premier League title slip through their grasp this season, having fallen behind Manchester City with just three games remaining.
