As per a report from Ghanasoccer, the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has handed down a one-year ban to five officials of Real Tamale United (RTU) from participating in any football-related activities.
The decision was made in response to a significant violation of regulations during the Matchday 28 game against Dreams FC at the Theatre of Dreams., according to the website.
The individuals facing the ban are Iddi Manzah Alhassan, Abdul-Samed Iddrisu, Abdul-Gafaru Salifu, Tanko Jentumah, and Sylvester Yaw Apanka.
The GFA’s action aims to address their involvement in an incident where RTU utilized unregistered players to impersonate those who were officially registered, deceiving the match officials.
This misconduct, as reported by the website, was deemed to undermine the integrity of the game and the fairness of the competition.
The GFA’s decision to enforce these bans highlights its dedication to maintaining high standards of behaviour and ensuring accountability in the realm of sports.
The one-year bans take effect immediately and are meant to emphasize the significance of ethical conduct in football administration.
The situation unfolded when RTU, faced with a difficult circumstance due to their registered players’ inability to travel, opted to field unregistered players against Dreams FC. The match ended in an 8-1 defeat for RTU in Dawu.
Despite the club acknowledging their wrongdoing and requesting leniency, citing necessity as the driving force behind their actions, the GFA Disciplinary Committee concluded that the severity of the violation warranted stringent penalties.
