Jordan Chiedozie, a 30-year-old English-born Nigerian footballer, is currently in a controlled coma following a severe car accident on February 1, 2025.
The incident occurred on the M27 motorway near Southampton, England, when Chiedozie and Bashley FC’s physiotherapist, Reighan Taylor, stopped to investigate a flat tyre.
While outside their vehicle, a Mercedes SLK struck them from behind, causing Chiedozie to suffer multiple broken bones and other injuries.
The driver of the Mercedes has been arrested on charges of alleged drunk driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Chiedozie, who began his career at AFC Bournemouth, has played for several clubs, including Cambridge United, Concord Rangers, and Margate. He joined Bashley FC in 2024, competing in the Southern League Division One.
The football community has rallied around Chiedozie, with messages of support pouring in from former clubs and players.
Bournemouth FC expressed their condolences, stating, “Saddened to see this. Everyone from #afcb is sending our best wishes to Jordan, his family, and Reighan.”
As of now, Chiedozie remains in a controlled coma, and his family, friends, and the football community continue to hope for his recovery.
