The Ghana Football Association (GFA) recently revealed that they paid over $100,000 in compensation to Milovan Rajevac, the former coach of the Black Stars, following his abrupt dismissal.
According to Henry Asante-Twum, the Communications Director of the GFA, the situation became a significant issue when Rajevac, dissatisfied with his sacking, turned to FIFA for a ruling.
“Asante Twum explained, ‘When Milo [Milovan Rajevac] was fired, it became an issue because he didn’t have time to waste, so he went to FIFA.'”
FIFA ruled in Rajevac’s favour, which meant the GFA had to settle the matter by paying the agreed compensation.
The amount, reportedly around $117,000, was a significant financial burden. Asante-Twum emphasized that despite multiple attempts to resolve the situation through discussions with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, there was no assistance forthcoming, leaving the GFA to handle the settlement on their own.
“The Ministry wasn’t forthcoming, so the FA had to settle the amount,” Asante-Twum confirmed.
