Egypt Player Emam Ashour Hospitalised After Horror Accident While Trying Backflip in Training

Egypt player Emam Ashour suffered a concussion and a brain injury, as confirmed by the Egyptian Football Association.

The team’s physician, Mohamed Abou El-Ela, provided immediate medical assistance to Ashour, who was then taken to the hospital for further testing.

Currently, Ashour’s condition is stable, but the scans revealed that he did indeed sustain a concussion. As a result, he will remain in the hospital under medical supervision for the next 24 hours.

Throughout the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Emam Ashour has been a standout player for Egypt, starting in all three group matches and making a significant impact against Cape Verde and Ghana.

Unfortunately, this is the third injury suffered by the Egyptian team, following the absences of Mohamed El-Shennawy and Mohamed Salah, who are both expected to be out for the remainder of the competition.

Egypt had recently advanced to the knockout round as runners-up in Group B, so Ashour’s head injury poses a setback to their hopes in AFCON 2023.

Already dealing with the setbacks of Mohamed Salah’s hamstring injury and Mohamed El-Shennawy’s dislocated shoulder, the Pharaohs now face the possibility of Ashour being unavailable for the next round.

In their crucial encounter in the Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday, Egypt managed to overcome two early deficits and secure a 2-2 draw against Ghana, despite Mohamed Salah’s injury.

Salah was forced to leave the field just before halftime with a left thigh injury, which greatly diminished Egypt’s chances of winning a record-breaking eighth Africa Cup.
