Dede Ayew has reportedly pulled out of Ghana’s squad to face Angola in the second leg of their AFCON qualifier in Luanda on Monday.

According to reports, the captain of Ghana tripped and almost fell while at the team’s hotel. After that, he appeared good and continued to warm up.

However he did begin to complain in the early hours of Saturday, and preliminary examinations revealed that he had sustained a knee injury during the first game between the two sides at the Baba Yara Stadium last Thursday.

“He came to complain this morning about a knee injury. The team doctors ran preliminary tests on him and concluded that he needed to head back to England for further scans,” GFA Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum told Joy Sports.

The team doctors have now granted the Nottingham Forest player permission to withdraw from the team.

Andre is anticipated to return to England to receive a second opinion on the severity of the injury. In his first game as the national team’s head coach, Chris Hughton benched the 33-year-old as Ghana defeated Angola 1-0.
