Jay-Z and Beyoncé are facing a wave of online death threats following a now-dismissed lawsuit that falsely accused the rapper of raping a 13-year-old girl.
The lawsuit, which also implicated music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, was thrown out, but the fallout continues to stir controversy.
Filed in December 2024 by attorney Tony Buzbee, the lawsuit alleged that the assault took place at a 2000 MTV Video Music Awards afterparty.

Jay-Z vehemently denied the claims, calling them “frivolous, fictitious, and appalling.” He suggested the timing of the lawsuit—coinciding with the premiere of Mufasa: The Lion King, featuring Beyoncé and their daughter Blue Ivy—was a calculated move to cause maximum disruption.
Despite the lawsuit’s dismissal, Jay-Z and Beyoncé have been bombarded with threatening messages online, with some individuals vowing to harm them over the false allegations.
The rapper has since taken legal action against Buzbee, filing a lawsuit for extortion and defamation.
Meanwhile, Diddy remains entangled in a series of separate legal battles, including allegations of racketeering and sex trafficking—charges he has denied.
