Dream FC has secured their spot in the semi-finals of the Confederation Cup after a dominant performance against Stade Malien in a two-legged match, with an overall score of 3-2.

The second leg took place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, and despite a tense battle, it was Yoro Mamadou Diaby who scored for the Malians in the 59th minute, giving them the lead.

As the game seemed to be heading towards a 2-2 draw and a potential penalty shootout, Sylvester Simba stepped up and equalized for Dream FC in the 70th minute.

Despite the determined fightback from the Malians, Dream FC’s resilience prevailed, allowing them to qualify for the semi-finals for the first time in the history of the club.

Dreams FC has thus made history by becoming the inaugural Ghanaian team to reach the semifinals of the CAF Confederation Cup since the remarkable accomplishments of Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko in 2005. This achievement marks a significant milestone for Dreams FC in their pursuit of success in the tournament.

In the first match, the Ghanaians emerged victorious over Stade Malien with a score of 2:1 in Bamako, creating a significant opportunity to advance to the semi-final stage once the return leg takes place in Kumasi.

The resilient team showcased an outstanding performance by overcoming a deficit to cause an upset at their opponent’s home ground.

Despite their opponent taking the lead in the second half after a strong start, the Ghanaian FA Cup champions refused to surrender.

Through cohesive teamwork, they gradually fought their way back into the match, applying pressure on the home team.

John Antwi ensured that his team’s hard work did not go unnoticed by seizing a crucial opportunity to equalize the game just 13 minutes after falling behind.
