Comoros President Azali Assoumani praised the national team’s outstanding performance in their victory against Ghana, stating that they have made the Comorian people proud.

The Black Stars faced a setback in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, losing 1-0 to Moroni due to a brilliant first-half strike from Myziane Maolida.

This upset victory marks Comoros’ second consecutive win over Ghana, following their triumph in the last AFCON. As a result, the Coelacanths have taken the lead in Group I of the World Cup qualifiers with six points, surpassing both Mali and Ghana. President Assoumani expressed his congratulations to the team for their impressive performance in the World Cup qualifiers.

Mr. Ibrahim Sani Daara, the Media Officer of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), took to Twitter to announce the latest development.

He posted:

Moreover, the Comoros national team has continued their taunting of the Ghanaian Black Stars on social media by sharing a video that pokes fun at Ghana’s defeat in their recent match.

The Comoros team secured a 1-0 victory in the World Cup qualifiers thanks to Myziane Maolida’s goal, which has propelled them to the top of Group I with two wins in two games.

This is not the first time that Comoros has defeated the Black Stars, as they also emerged victorious in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon. The video, which features Ghanaian comedian Akrobeto laughing in response to the defeat, has gone viral on social media.
