Chris Hughton Returns To UK After Losing Black Stars Job

After parting ways with Ghana’s senior national team, former Black Stars manager, Chris Hughton has returned to the United Kingdom.

The Ghana Football Association terminated Hughton’s contract on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, following the Black Stars’ disappointing performance at the 2023 African Cup of Nations.

The Irish-born Ghanaian strategist led Ghana to a second consecutive early exit from the AFCON group stage, with the Black Stars managing only two points in the tournament.

The team suffered a 2-1 defeat to Cape Verde and achieved 2-2 draws against Egypt and Mozambique.

Hughton, the former Brighton coach, oversaw 14 matches during his tenure, securing only four wins.

His return to the UK was captured in a video just days after his dismissal from the coaching position with the Ghanaian national team.
