Charles Taylor Reveals Why Dede Ayew Decided Not To Go To Angola With The Black Stars

Former Ghanaian international Charles Asampong Taylor has read meaning into Dede Ayew’s notable absence in Luanda when Ghana locked horns with Angola in the return fixture of their double header AFCON qualifier.

Andre Ayew, the captain of Ghana, was conspicuously absent from the starting lineup when the first leg was played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. This surprised several Ghanaians and when it emerged that he had been omitted from the squad for the Luanda game as well, the anxiety heightened.

The GFA consequently explained that Dede had sustained a knee injury and had to depart for further testing at his club, Nottingham Forest.

However, Taylor, who ruled Ghana football with his soccer artistry years ago, believes that the skipper’s absence from the team was because he was ‘disrespected’ when he was dropped in the first game.

He said on Angel TV thus;

The injured players who have left the team is good for the team but not entirely because we know what they can do for the team but I’m struggling to believe the excuse for Dede that he is injured because he didn’t even play the game I believe there is something there and it’s not that he is injured.

Maybe he was angry they did not let him play the first leg and that’s why he was dropped out of the squad the medical team said he is injured but I don’t believe that. He was angry he did not play that’s why he is not going to Angola.
