CAF To Reveal Host Nation For 2025 AFCON

The host country for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will be made public before September 2023, according to a statement from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Algeria, Morocco, South Africa, Zambia, and a joint offer from Benin and Nigeria were among the nations that have previously expressed interest in taking over as the tournament’s hosts in place of Guinea, according to CAF President Patrice Motsepe.

Because Guinea lacked the necessary facilities and infrastructure, it lost its hosting rights. The 2025 and 2027 AFCON hosts will be revealed at the same time, according to the African Football governing body.

A CAF statement read, “CAF will announce the successful Nations that will host the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 and the Africa Cup of Nations 2027 at the same time before September this year.”

The statement also confirmed that progress is being made on the inaugural African Super League set to launch later this year.

Meanwhile, Ivory Coast is hosting the 2023 edition for the second time. Ivory Coast first hosted the tournament in 1984.

This edition of the tournament was supposed to be the 3rd time taking place in the Northern Hemisphere summer since the 2019 edition to reduce scheduling conflicts with European club teams and competitions.
