Ghanaian champions Medeama SC secured a narrow victory over Nigerian team Remo Stars in the first leg of the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League on Sunday, August 20, 2023.

The match was held at the Cape Coast Stadium and proved to be a challenging encounter. The Ghana Premier League champions dominated the game from the outset and were rewarded with a goal in the 22nd minute, scored by Jonathan Sowah.

Despite their efforts, Medeama was unable to add to their tally before the halftime break. In the second half, Remo Stars showed some early promise, but Medeama’s defense remained resolute and dealt with the threats that came their way.

Towards the end of the game, Remo Stars took control and dominated proceedings, but Medeama’s defense held firm. The second leg of the tie will take place at the Remo Stars stadium in Ogun State, Nigeria, where Medeama will attempt to secure qualification for the next round of the Champions League. The winner of the tie will face Guinean giants Horoya AC in the second preliminary round.
