Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) faced a stunning defeat against Daniel Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs) for the IBF world heavyweight title at Wembley Stadium in London on September 21, 2024.

In a highly anticipated match, Dubois delivered a knockout blow in the fifth round, successfully defending his title and marking a significant moment in his career.

The event at Wembley Stadium drew a large crowd of boxing enthusiasts eager to witness this clash of titans. The fight began with both fighters displaying their skills and determination, but it was Dubois who seized control as the rounds progressed. The 27-year-old dropped Joshua multiple times and leave his domestic rival’s career in ruins. Joshua, aiming to reclaim his status as a three-time heavyweight champion, struggled to find his rhythm against Dubois’s aggressive style.

Londoner Dubois stopped Joshua, 34, with an incredible counter right hook to secure the biggest win of his 24-fight career.

“Are you not entertained?” Dubois shouted post-fight, to huge cheers in the packed-out stadium.

“I’m a gladiator. I am a warrior to the bitter end. I want to get to the top level of this sport and reach my potential.”

This victory is particularly meaningful for Dubois, who has faced criticism in the past for his performance against Joe Joyce in 2020. With this win, he not only retains his IBF title but also solidifies his reputation as a formidable contender in the heavyweight division.

For Joshua, this loss raises questions about his future in boxing. Despite having won four consecutive bouts prior to this fight, including a notable victory over former UFC champion Francis Ngannou earlier this year, he now faces a critical juncture in his career. Analysts speculate on whether he will take time off to regroup or seek immediate rematches to reclaim his standing.
