A fitness coach of Black Stars, Ricky Roy has tragically passed away.

The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday, April 28, 2024, although the exact cause of his death remains unconfirmed.

According to a report by Joy Sports, Roy had expressed feeling unwell but unfortunately succumbed to his illness before he could recover.

Roy gained recognition four years ago when he saved a player’s life during a Division One League match between Vision FC and Agbozume.

At that time, Roy was with Vision FC and successfully resuscitated left-back Benjamin Aloma after he collapsed on the field following a head collision.

Subsequently, Roy was appointed to the Black Stars’ coaching staff after Milovan Rajevac’s return in late 2020.

He has since collaborated with Otto Addo and Chris Hughton, contributing to the coaching team at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup and the recent 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in the Ivory Coast. Following the confirmation of Roy’s passing, heartfelt tributes have been pouring in from the football community.
