Mark Addo, the vice president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), and Chris Hughton, the new coach of the Black Stars, attended the Akwasidae Festival in Kumasi on Sunday.

The group from the GFA was cordially greeted by the traditional leaders and other attendees to the festival, which is a significant occasion in the Ashanti region, which was held at Manhyia Palace.

Hughton’s presence heightened the anticipation for the occasion because he will be introduced as the new Black Stars coach on Monday.

The GFA anticipates that the coach’s involvement in the festival will foster a closer bond between the team and the neighbourhood, encouraging supporters to come out in their numbers for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations match against Angola.

The GFA is working hard to mobilize local support as the squad gets ready for their match on Thursday. The crew is hoping to lay a solid foundation for future success by interacting with the community and taking part in activities like the Akwasidae Festival.

The Akwasidae Festival (alternate, Akwasiadae) is celebrated by the Ashanti people and chiefs in Ashanti,as well as the Ashanti diaspora. The festival is celebrated on a Sunday, once every six weeks.
