Ghana’s Black Starlets faced a setback in the UEFA U-16 tournament as they suffered a defeat at the hands of Russia.

The match concluded with a score of 3-1 in favour of the young Russian team, who displayed dominance right from the beginning.

Vadim Shilov opened the scoring just four minutes into the game, setting the tone for Russia’s impressive performance.

Shilov then added another goal through a penalty kick in the 30th minute, extending the lead to 2-0. Zakhar Chushkin further increased Russia’s advantage to 3-0 shortly after, giving his team a comfortable lead at halftime.

Despite the tough circumstances, Ghana exhibited resilience and managed to score a goal through Ernest Ofori in the 61st minute, offering a glimmer of hope.

However, it was not sufficient to change the course of the game in their favour.

Looking forward, Laryea Kingston’s team is determined to bounce back in their upcoming matches against Serbia and Kazakhstan in the tournament.
