The hopes of the Black Queens of Ghana to participate in the women’s tournament of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France, have been dashed.

Following a 4-3 aggregate defeat to Zambia’s Copper Queens in the third round of qualifiers for the Games, Ghana’s Olympic dream has been extinguished.

The first leg, held at the Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana, saw the Black Queens succumb to a 1-0 loss despite their dominance throughout the match.

In the reverse fixture on Wednesday, February 28, in Zambia, the Black Queens fought hard but could only manage a 3-3 draw against the Copper Queens.

Despite goals from Gifty Assifuah, Doris Boaduwaa, and Azumah Bugre, Ghana’s team fell short of securing the necessary result to advance.

With the aggregate score standing at 4-3 in favor of the Copper Queens, Zambia moves on to the final round of qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games, leaving the Black Queens to rue their missed opportunity.
