Bawumia To Digitize Lands To Avoid ‘Land Guards Killings’

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has emphasized the importance of addressing the ongoing issue of land disputes leading to violence.

He has proposed the implementation of a digitalized system for land ownership records to streamline accessibility.

As the current vice president and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), he made this commitment while on a campaign tour.

Bawumia has assured the public of his intention to introduce a policy dedicated to resolving land conflicts to promote peace if elected as president.

“One of my initial tasks as president will be to complete the digitalization of land. This is to confirm that issues of land ownership, including those of state lands, are digitalized, so people won’t need to resort to land guards who may resort to violence to assert land ownership.

“I am confident that with your support, we can digitalize our land registry nationwide, which will significantly reduce disputes,” he said in a video shared by EDHUB on their X account.

Dr. Bawumia is set to contest against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, among other political party candidates, in the upcoming general elections scheduled for December 7, 2024.
