Joan Laporta has reacted to the transfer of French sensation Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid.
While acknowledging his lack of enthusiasm for such a significant player joining the opposing team, Laporta maintained his belief in Barcelona’s superior philosophy compared to Real Madrid’s.
“If I speak as a Barcelona fan, it’s not good news that Mbappe has joined Real Madrid. However, to be honest, I prefer our strategy of creating and developing players in La Masia. I respect our rivals, but I remain loyal to our philosophy,” said Laporta.
The highly anticipated transfer of the French superstar to Real Madrid was finalized on Monday, as he signed a five-year contract with the current European and Spanish champions.
His arrival is expected to significantly strengthen Los Blancos, who already have talented players like Vinicius Jr., Rodrygo, and Jude Bellingham in their squad.
In the 2023-24 season, Barcelona found themselves playing second fiddle to Real Madrid, as a remarkable performance by Bellingham propelled the capital club to secure a league double over their long-standing rivals.
Additionally, the Blaugranas finished a significant 10 points adrift from the champions in La Liga, and the upcoming edition could potentially bring even more challenges for the Catalan side, considering their rivals’ acquisition of one of the world’s finest players and a potential future Ballon d’Or winner.
