A spectacular Italian ceremony saw former England fullback Ashley Cole getting married to his model fiancée Sharon Canu.
Hundreds of guests, including former colleagues John Terry and Frank Lampard, attended the England legend’s wedding to Sharon, the mother of his two children, yesterday night.
They were joined by Sam Faiers and her boyfriend Paul Knightley, a reality celebrity, and Lampard’s wife Christine Lampard. Guests tweeted on social media about the celebrations in Rome, Italy. Sharon wore a form-fitting bridal gown with a lace corset, and she looked stunning.
Ashley looked sharp in a blue dinner suit as she accessorized with a long, mesh-embroidered veil and a cream wedding bouquet.
The couple said “I do” on top of a cliff overlooking the sea at the Hotel La Vecchia Posta in Ladispo, beneath a huge arch flower display.
A plume of colourful smoke erupted as former Arsenal and Chelsea star Ashley and Sharon, 30, exchanged their vows. The bride and groom were then seen holding hands as guests scattered confetti to the accompaniment of an orchestra singing Viva La Vida by Cold Play.
The couple’s first dance was to Never Enough from The Greatest Showman, as shown in a second footage from the lavish party that took place on Saturday.
At their outdoor dinner celebration, which included a spectacular fireworks display, Ashley and Sharon also danced through long tables before continuing their party late into the night. John Terry, Ashley’s closest friend, provided another high point afterwards.
The former Chelsea player climbed onto the stage to sing a croaky cover of John Legend’s classic All Of Me to the happy couple. Terry, 42, was bravely dancing and grinning as a pianist played the well-known song. 13 years after his divorce from Cheryl Cole, Ashley remarried.
Cheryl, a popular singer, and Ashley began dating in 2004. They got married in 2006, however, they subsequently broke up. After first meeting in 2014, while he had a brief stint at Roma, the former England and Chelsea defender proposed to his longtime girlfriend Sharon in March of that year. After months of preparation, they finally had the idyllic wedding they had always imagined.
A source told The Sun: “Ashley Cole and Sharon are madly in love and have spent months planning their special day.
“They met in 2014 when he joined AS Roma and now they are returning to the city for their nuptials.
“Loads of her family live there and it’s very romantic – it’s going to be a very special day.
“They have put lots of money into it but they have only invited close friends and family.”
They can certainly afford the luxurious celebrations, with Ashley believed to be worth around £ 18 million.
