Arsenal Keep Pressure On Manchester City As They Beat Newcastle

Arsenal do not want to give up on the title race despite Manchester City’s fine in recent times which coincided with their own tumble.

The Gunners made amends after defeating Newcastle United 2-0 on Sunday in a thrilling game at St. James’ Park thereby shrinking the point between them and the league leaders to just one point

After 14 minutes, against the flow of play, Martin Odegaard gave the visitors the lead with a beautiful low shot, and in the 75th minute, Fabian Schar put a cross from Gabriel Martinelli into his own net.

Given that City must mix the domestic run-in with a two-legged Champions League semifinal against Real Madrid over the next 10 days, Mikel Arteta’s team has played one more game than City but still managed to clinch a victory that will increase the pressure on the title contenders.

If the Gunners had lost this match, they would have needed a miracle in the remaining weeks of the season for them to have any chance of winning the title.

The loud sellout crowd was determined to make this another in-depth examination of Arsenal’s resolve because this was also the location of a terrible 2-0 setback from the previous season when Champions League qualifying slipped from their grasp.
